According to the Broadcast Sheets (build sheet) found in the car, it was scheduled to be built on June 3, 1969 at the Dearborn Plant.  However, according to the Marti Report it was built on June 12, 1969.

It was delivered to Rosser Massey Ford Inc (no longer in business) in Fredericksburg, VA and purchased on October 17, 1969.  It remained with the original owner (who lived in the Fredericksburg area) until 1977.  The wife was awarded the car in a divorce and she decided to sell it because her son would soon be 16.   An ad was placed in the local newspaper and it was purchased for $1,500 by a local dealer (no longer in business).  The owner of the business kept the Cougar for his private collection.  We then purchased it from him in August 2002.

According to the last inspection dated 12-2-82, the mileage was 89,887. Only 200 miles have put on this car in the past 20 years.

As of November 9, 2002 it is officially in the restoration process.

If this story sounds familiar to anyone, we definitely want to hear from you.  Like many people, we have questions for the original owner.

UPDATE 12/4/05:   With the help of zabasearch.com, a local phone book and the original title, I was able to locate Mr McKenney.  So I called the number and yes, he was the person who purchased this car.
